My fancy photographer friend brought some dignity to my romper, so I’m re-listing it!
This is from a vintage McCall’s pattern (5122). Massachusetts refuses to call it quits on winter, so it looks like I have a while yet til I can romp in this here romper. Not psyched on the fit, but I think the problem is 1) I didn’t use stretch knit, as the pattern calls for, and 2) I should have shortened the torso. Have you shied away from wearing rompers because they’re a prison to a full bladder?? Well dry up, little miss — this one comes with a trap door on the butt!
cotton seersucker, invisible zipper, waistline stay

Oh my god, I have this pattern. I was wary of the strong ‘70s vibes, but your rendition is so cute. Maybe I’ll try it out.

Yeah I hear you — if I were to make another, I would make the collar MUCH smaller and higher. I also shortened the legs and lengthened the sleeves.

Good to know. I’ll keep that in mind, thanks.

seersucker is one of my general favorites, but in a playsuit? even better! I’m finishing one up at the moment, but may even like yours better :) so fun.

Because of the stripes it made cutting out the pieces flawless — great for someone so symmetrically challenged as I. It’s gonna be so fresh with a big floppy hat in summer!

Cute romper. Im weary of making one simply because I don’t know how comfortable I would feel in a one piece outfit. Where is the trap door? I can’t see it in the photo

The back is 2 pieces – the bottom half is one with the waist ties, so when you untie them you can drop the bottom. Kind of like peeling a banana only on one side. I find this one pretty comfortable, but making it out of stretch would be even better/more practical.
